Imbizo performing arts is a male acappella music group that originates from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, it was formed by young musicians who hoped to bring new interpretation to traditional African music with their vocal style. With over 30 years of experience the Imbizo men are still on a mission to spread the message and to keep the African culture alive and known to the whole world.

In 1991 at the beginning of the middle years period the boys would gather in the farms of their parents to play games while they sang songs to call the rain and peace in the African land.

As they gathered each day they would compose a tune from nowhere or from the singing birds around and make it a very beautiful song, that's how they knew that they were on a mission to unite and share the beauty of Africa. After sleepless nights of serious practice, Imbizo then thought of sharing their music with their neighbours and friends.

By 1994 the band's touring schedule had molded itself into a regular yearly round that include Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, and Malawi.

Their first album Lude loluhambo took them to greater heights, Imbizo then continuously focused on travelling abroad. This group contributed towards peace while at the same time they healed wounded wounds as a result of war through their phenomenal voices. The less privileged also benefited from their tours as wheelchairs and food was donated in appreciation of the people's support towards the group             

   Then came the new millenium,Imbizo toured the whole of Europe and America where they kept thousands of people glued at the billboards for their next shows.They recognised that they had made a name for themselves.    

Imbizo songs talk to people and leave a mark in their lives.It is the ability to mesh melodic inventiveness with real empathy for common people and their lives that lies at the very heart of the band's long live popularity.

Today Imbizo continue to successfully tour and record.Not only is the band among the very last performing survivors from the long heyday of Iscathamiya music,but also  one of the iconic few who can truely claim to be an African musical institution.

IMBIZO FAMILY FUN NIGHT

This was our unique  shows,one of it's kind in the busiest cities in South Africa,we were live in the city of Gold right in the hearts of many,we were in the community of Hilbrow where everything happens,we call it an ever blazing night ,a successful one. We performed like never before ,with eight non stop performances that kept the crowd on their feet.

MELMOTH FESTIVAL OF ARTS.

After our performances on air ,we got a surprise invitation to take part in the most exciting festival of arts ever,where boys were separated from men.From traditional to contemporary  and modern dances we rose higher and higher as we exceedingly did well.The crowd could not stop chanting the group's  name as we were asked to sign and leave  profile for more. Then we knew we had iced our cake  with the best cream for a long lasting crave.This festival opened a new dawn for us as we went from live to air.Higher and higher we have been on air several times with one of the top radio stations in Mzansi with 7,7million listeners,Ukhozi fm.We did not stop ,the journey continues to television.We are currently live almost every Saturday on the traditional dance show,ROOTS.

This program has extended the wings of this group.
